Rendez-vous, organised during the Biennale de Lyon 2017, is presented at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam, where the Havana Biennial is hosted. Created by the MAC Lyon in 2002, Rendez-vous, an international platform for young artists, uniquely in France, involves the combined energies of four institutions: the Biennale de Lyon; the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, the Institut d’art contemporain, Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes and the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon.
The artistic direction of Rendez-vous and its extended invitations to ten international biennials and triennials make this event a unique project in the world. Jorge Antonio Fernández Torres, curator of the 12th Havana Biennial and Director of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Cuba, was guest curator of the 2015 and 2017 Rendez-vous editions. This collaboration with Havana is an opportunity to present works by young French and Cuban artists. A program of events will be presented during the exhibition.
